Simone is a Melbourne based textile designer and artist who goes by the moniker of Femke Textiles.

She is greatly inspired by the pure joy and freedom of riding her bike around the streets of Melbourne. The landscape of her urban surrounds informs the playful and illustrative designs and she loves the unique quality of hand printing and the beauty in imperfection. It is Australia's natural flora and fauna that provides her with so much inspiration with all its colour, form and textures.

So…

Last year, Simone was approached by her friend Yoko with a special commission to print fabric that would be sewed into bed linen. Even though bed linen was new territory for Simone, she is certainly no stranger to pushing boundaries on the application (or expanse) of her designs - so, it’s no surprise that the project was accepted, and beautiful bed linen was produced!

This page serves as a visual diary of some of the key stages, from Simone’s beautiful studio to sewing the fabric together and, the finished pieces looking stunning in domestic situ.
